- Draw a scale plan of the building area in which the
conveyor system is to be installed. Original building drawings are helpful
but actual conditions must be checked at building site.
- Show column or bay marks.
- Dimension column centers.
- Show North Direction
- Show size and elevation of building construction
from which conveyor system is to be supported.
- Show any equipment or obstruction that might affect
path of conveyor.
- Show "Load" and "Unload" points and connect these
points with the most economical path. Use closely spaced parallel lines
when possible to reduce superstructure steel, supporting steel, and
guards.
- Show conveyor elevations.
- Show turns and dips.
- Dimension conveyor in relation to building columns.
- Locate Guard, if required.
- Locate expansion joints, if required.
- Locate "Down-hill" and "Up-hill" safety stops, if
required.
The following specifications should be sketched or
listed on the layout drawings:
- Size of rail.
- Size of chain.
- Trolley spacing.
- Carrier spacing.
- Live load on center.
- Speed of conveyor (constant or variable)
- Radius of roller turns.
- Diameter of traction wheel turns.
- Radius of vertical dips.
- Maximum angle of incline and decline.
- Electric Current Available.
